Two MPs and an MLA from Delhi were prosecuted by traffic police for the unauthorized use of red beacons on their vehicles.

NEW DELHI: Two MPs and an MLA from Delhi were prosecuted by traffic police for the unauthorized use of red beacons on their vehicles. West Delhi MP Mahabal Mishra and his south Delhi counterpart Ramesh Kumar were prosecuted after they were found using red beacons on their vehicles, said police. Hari Nagar MLA Harsharan Singh Balli of BJP was also prosecuted for the offence.
Traffic police said the lawmakers have been asked to remove the red beacons from their vehicles. According to law, MPs or MLAs are not allowed to have beacon lights on their vehicles.
Vehicles allowed to use red beacon-cum-flasher include those of President, Prime Minister, former Presidents, Chief Justice of India, Lok Sabha Speaker and Leaders of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, among others.
