NIZAMUDDIN: A 26-year-old woman has been arrested for trying to extort money from a businessman at Nizamuddin in south Delhi.
The accused, Noorjehan alias Seema Saha, allegedly threatened the businessman that she would implicate him in a rape case if he did not pay her Rs 50,000.
According to the police, the accused reached the victim’s place on Sunday evening and asked him for Rs 50,000.

When the victim, Haroon Puri, declined, she went to the toilet where she allegedly tore off her clothes and threatened to call up the police. When Puri further resisted, she called up the police.
An inquiry into the incident revealed that Noorjehan had earlier called up the businessman and asked for money. "We came to know that she had earlier extorted money from other businessmen as well. A case of cheating and trying to extort money has been registered against her," said deputy commissioner of police (south) Praveer Ranjan.
The investigations in the case revealed that Noorjehan had got a false case of rape registered against a guest house owner in Jungpura.

Earlier this month, the victim had first reported to the police that the owner, Kuldeep Kumar, had stolen her belongings.
A few days later, she alleged that she had been raped by Kuldeep and his friend, Satyapal Singh, who lives in the building next to the guest house.
"She also alleged that she was being used for prostitution by the two men. She claimed that she was forced to entertain Kuldeep''s guests. The two, however, told us that she had asked them to pay Rs 1.5 lakh or else be ready to face rape charges," said a police officer.
The woman had checked into the guest house in the first week of June saying that she was an exporter and had come to Delhi to purchase some cloth material.
She said that her husband''s name was Deepak Kumar and that he lived in Kolkata. "After her arrest we have received calls from at least seven businessmen who said she extorted money from them by threatening to implicate them in a rape or molestation case," added the officer.
