FARIDABAD: Two school students drowned in a lake, formed after years of illegal mining in the Aravalis, on Wednesday morning. The two were part of a group of seven students of Gurukul School in Surajkund, who had bunked their classes on Wednesday morning and walked down to a lake in the vicinity for fun.
All of them entered the lake but Sumit, a student of class VIII, lost control and started drowning.

In an attempt to rescue him, another class VIII student, Sonu, advanced into the water but he too drowned. Terrified, the other five students ran back to their classes and out of fear didnt report the incident to the school authorities.
An hour later, a woman, who had noticed some activity while washing clothes on the other side of the lake, informed the school authorities about the incident. The police and the fire brigade soon arrived but they coulnt fish out the bodies. One Arjun of neighbouring Shraddhanand colony, a trained swimmer, entered the lake, located the bodies and brought them out.
Last year two students of nearby Manav Rachna Engineering College had lost their lives in another lake.
