NEW DELHI: A man, who trains bartenders, and his friend were arrested on Sunday for allegedly stealing a Toyota Camry car from outside a restro bar in south Delhi, said police. The accused — Sandeep Sawant (23), who works as a trainer at a bartending institute, and Karan Kaushik (26), son of a former defence ministry official — were nabbed from Vasant Vihar while trying to dispose of the car that was stolen three days ago.

Sawant allegedly stole the vehicle after taking its keys from a restro bar at Basant Lok Market in Vasant Vihar by posing as an MNC manager, said DCP (south) H G S Dhaliwal. "After stealing the car, the accused, posing as officials of an MNC, were trying to dispose of the vehicle using fake documents," Dhaliwal said. The owner of the car is a resident of south Delhi.
The car was equipped with advanced security features and could not be stolen without original key. "They were arrested while trying to sell the car, which has been recovered," said a police officer.
Sawant hails from Orissa and shifted to Mehrauli about 25 years ago. "He trained in bartending and soon joined an institute in Mehrauli as a faculty member," the officer added. Kaushik is the son of a former defence ministry official and operated radio-taxi in the airport area.
