16-yr-old boy killed in Seelampur, 2 detained

New Delhi: A 16-year-old boy was brutally murdered inside a park in Northeast Delhi's Seelampur area late Friday night. Police detained two people, including a minor, in connection with the killing and are investigating the motive.According to police, around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, a patrolling officer conducting a routine check at Central Park, Seelampur, discovered a teenager lying in a pool of blood between a park bench and the footpath. Two blood-stained bricks and a stick were found near his head, suggesting a violent assault.The injured boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Seelampur police station. Crime and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams visited the scene and collected evidence.A mobile phone was recovered from his pocket, which helped authorities identify the victim. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had a criminal background. He was previously involved in multiple cases, including extortion and murder reported in the Seelampur area last year. Most recently, he was apprehended on February 28 for riding a stolen scooter.The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case of murder has been registered. Police are continuing their investigation. "We are scanning CCTV footage of the area to ascertain the sequence of events," police said.
