New Delhi: The abusive comments of a relative on a wedding post on social media escalated into an assault in which a trader was stabbed to death in Delhi's Sadar Bazar area on the night of Feb 20.
Satish Kumar (48), a resident of Motia Khan, was killed near Ram Kumar Marg. Police said the chain of events began on Feb 18 when Satish's daughter solemnised her marriage with
Krishna in court. The family was elated and preparations were under way for a reception on Feb 23. On Feb 20, the young bride shared moments from the wedding on social media. Tanya, the daughter of Ashwani, who is Satish's nephew, allegedly posted abusive comments on the story.

Upset over the remarks, Satish, accompanied by his wife, went to Ashwani's house to confront the family. After a conversation, they began heading home. Around 10.20pm, Ashwani's son Aman allegedly picked a fight with them on the street. Police said Aman, along with his father Ashwani and sister Tanya, surrounded the family. "Aman allegedly pulled out a button-operated knife and stabbed Satish in the chest. His wife was also assaulted.
Local people rushed the injured man to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, where doctors declared him dead," a senior police officer said.
Based on his wife's statement, a case under Sections 103 (murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Sadar Bazar police station on Feb 21.
A police team arrested Aman (22), Ashwani (40), and Tanya. Aman allegedly led officers to the spot where he had concealed the knife. The weapon was seized.
Police said Satish lived with his wife and daughter in Motia Khan and ran his own business.
