Dehradun: A 27-year-old Youth Congress functionary allegedly sustained injuries during a scuffle between two groups at a cafe in Dehradun's Patel Nagar area on Wednesday night, police said on Saturday.
The woman went to the café with her friends to attend a birthday party when an argument broke out between some members of her group and another group present at the venue. The matter soon escalated into a physical fight.

SP (Rural-Rishikesh) Jaya Baluni said police came to know about the incident from an informer. "Following the argument, both sides came out of the café and assaulted each other. During the scuffle, someone from the other group struck the woman on the head, causing her to bleed," she said.
The injured woman was rushed to a hospital where she received around eight stitches, while the accused fled the scene. Later, her brother lodged a complaint at Patel Nagar police station, naming three accused — Ayush Rawat, Suraj Rana and Himanshu.
Baluni added that doctors who examined the woman said that she was hit with a hard and blunt object, contrary to some claims circulating on social media. The medical examination also noted that the woman was in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident.
A case has been registered under BNS sections, including 118 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 352 (insults to provoke breach of peace), and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the three accused, said police.
