MUSSOORIE: The Hanifl centre of

Woodstock School

will throw opens its gate for the 2018 Mussoorie Mountain Festival which begins on the 15th until the 17th of March. The theme for the three-day festival will be the Culture and Heritage of the Himalaya through the prism of ancient Indian aesthetic philosophy of Navarasa, which means Nine Emotions, in which Nava signifies Nine and Rasa signifies Emotions. The Nine rasas of ancient Indian Philosophy being: Shringaar (beautification); Karuna(compassion); Adbhut; Shant(Peaceful); Hasya (Laughter); Veer (Bravery); Bhaya (Fear); Vibhatsa and Rudra (Anger).

The Navarasa’s will be presented through subjects like folklore; Life of the Sherpas; indigenous architecture, conservation efforts in Leh, traditional drumming from Manipur; traditional medicine, Woodstock students snow camping expedition experiences and plenty more. The festival is being programmed in collaboration with Art Conservationists, Anupam Sah.

Mussoorie Writers

, was initially established with the aim of celebrating Mussoorie’ Literary Heritage. It has since refined itself to become a broader Mountain Festival at the heart of which is a community celebration of Himalayan culture, natural history and exploration.”

The Festival will open with the screening of film Land of the Gods’/ Dev Bhoomi by Serbian Director Goran Paskaljevic followed by a Q & A with lead Actor Victor Banerjee and Goran. Some of the other speakers at the fest are Shekhar Pathak; Pertemba Sherpa; Lokesh Ohri; John Keay; Dhurv Chandra; Anupam Sah; Andrew Alter and many more.

The galaxy of artists, authors, writers, conservationists, speakers promise to engage the audience as they undertake a journey into the Himalayas.
