DEHRADUN: With three key elections - Bageshwar assembly by-poll, urban body polls and Lok Sabha elections - lined up in the next 10 months, Opposition Congress has hit the poll mode in the Himalayan state.

The party is looking to strengthen its booth-level presence and also plans to reach out to all five Lok Sabha constituencies through 'padyatras', which would take place over the next few months.

After a recent meeting with the top brass of the party in Delhi, the state unit has announced to make 21 to 51 active members in each of its 12,000 booths in Uttarakhand. Besides, the party is going to start a 10-day yatra in the Pauri Lok Sabha constituency from July 7. "In these yatras, to be taken out in each of the 14 assembly constituencies of a Lok Sabha seat, we will take up key issues like the Ankita Bhandari murder case, inflation, shortage of jobs and the Agniveer scheme," a senior Congress leader told TOI.
