MUSSOORIE: Residents of villages near Kempty Falls stopped the operation of pumps of Yamuna-Mussoorie drinking water project, resulting in water supply stoppage to Mussoorie from this project.
Sandeep Kashyap, executive engineer of Pejyal Nigam, told TOI, "There is some dispute between villagers and the contractor hired by the department over payment owing to which villagers stopped the pumps since Wednesday." Jaipal Singh, project manager, contractor agency, told TOI that payment of around Rs 15 lakh was due for a few people from Bhediyana village. "These people had been given sub-contracts for civil works. There has been a delay in payment and so these people along with villagers stopped the pumping station operations," Singh said.
Meanwhile, residents were upset that the town did not get any water from this project.
