finally won their first game of the

Vijay Hazare Trophy

2019 at the Tanush Cricket Ground in

Dehradun

. Uttarakhand extensively defeated Assam by seven wickets in a rain-affected encounter on Friday. The match was reduced to 28 overs in which Uttarakhand was given a target of 172 which was chased with eight balls to spare. The stars of the match were skipper Unmukt Chand and wicket-keeper Saurabh Rawat. Chand played an unbeaten knock of 80 runs and saw his team through by playing the role of an anchor. While Rawat played an explosive unbeaten knock of 45 runs off just 20 deliveries which included six monstrous sixes. Uttarakhand will be playing their next game against Puducherry on Tuesday at the

Abhimanyu

Cricket Academy.

Meanwhile, no game was possible at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium due to wet outfield. Despite no major rainfall taking place during the designated match hours, the game between Puducherry and Mizoram got abandoned without a single ball being bowled. The stadium is yet to conduct a match as this is the second time within three days a match has been called off at Uttarakhand's premier stadium.
