DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Police’s special task force (STF) arrested a 30-year-old criminal wanted for allegedly injuring two patrolling police officers by firing at them in October last year, on Tuesday, from Dehradun’s Vikasnagar area.
According to police, the accused was identified as Javed Idrees, a resident of Rampur, UP, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head. He had committed the crime along with four of his acquaintances in Haridwar last year. The accused fired at the police officers who had confronted them while they were fleeing after robbing a jeweller in the city.
Senior superintendent of police, STF, Ayush Agrawal said, “Of the five accused, four were already arrested and only Javed was on the run.”
“In the ongoing probe, we gathered intelligence, including details of his family members. In that, we were keeping an eye on his in-laws at Vikasnagar where his wife was staying. While monitoring them, we nabbed him on Tuesday. It was important to nab him as he had 15 more cases against him in Uttar Pradesh. He was produced before the local court, which later sent him to jail,” said Agrawal.
