Uttarakhand finance minister Prem Chand Aggarwal, aides booked for thrashing man in road-rage case

DEHRADUN: An FIR has been registered against state finance minister Prem Chand Aggarwal, his gunner and public relations officer (PRO) on Wednesday for allegedly thrashing a party functionary in Rishikesh in a "road rage" incident the day before.

After the fracas, which was captured on camera and widely shared on social media, creating a furore in local circles and triggering a controversy that drew sharp reactions from opposition, both sides have registered police complaints.

Confirming the development, SSP (Dehradun) Daleep Singh Kunwar told TOI, "On the basis of the complaint of Surendra Singh Negi, a case has been filed against Aggarwal, his gunner Gaurav Rana and PRO Kaushal Bijlwan under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) at Rishikesh Kotwali police station. Similarly, Rana has also filed a complaint against Negi and his friend Dharamveer Prajapati for attacking him and the minister."
