Two junior engineers (JEs), who were on their way back home after conducting polling in Gangotri, were killed when their car veered into Bhagirathi River near Nalupani here.

Dehradun: Two junior engineers (JEs), who were on their way back home after conducting polling in Gangotri, were killed when their car veered into Bhagirathi River near Nalupani here.
Both the government officials had gone to Gangotri as poll agents and were returning after submitting the electronic voting machines when the accident took place on Wednesday evening.

27-year-old Abhishek Chauhan, a resident of Damta and Pramod Kumar (30) of Vikasnagar in Dehradun were found dead in the car, which was spotted by some passersby.
Police and state disaster response team personnel swung into action and rushed them to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead. The bodies have been sent for post mortem examination.
Ashish Shrivastava, district magistrate (DM), said: “A compensation of Rs 20 lakh is expected for the kin of the deceased.”
