Rudrapur: Once known for its manufacturing units in SIDCUL, Pantnagar and Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar district is rapidly emerging as a major warehousing and logistics hub in northern India, opening up new employment opportunities for local youth.
Driven by expansion of e-commerce firms, FMCG brands and automobile industries, warehousing and logistics activities have grown significantly across Rudrapur and Kichha. Large transport networks and modern storage facilities are steadily transforming the region into an integrated supply chain corridor.
As per industry estimates, over 10 logistics and warehouse projects are currently under development in the Rudrapur-Kichha belt, with the potential to generate employment for nearly 5,000 to 8,000 people. Opportunities are increasing in areas such as warehouse supervision, dispatch operations, inventory management, packaging and transport coordination, with vacancies regularly appearing on online recruitment portals.
Adding to the sector’s growth, a private logistics company is developing a multi-user warehouse spread across nearly 3.3 lakh square feet in Bara village near Kichha. The project is expected to strengthen supply networks while generating substantial local employment.
Officials said the district’s strategic location and improving infrastructure are attracting major investments.
“Warehousing and logistics activities are expanding rapidly in the industrial areas. This growth has significantly increased employment opportunities at the local level,” said Vipin Kumar, general manager, District Industries Centre.
“The govt is continuously working to improve infrastructure and encourage investment so that maximum employment opportunities can be created for the youth,” he said.
