Dehradun: Uttarakhand high court has directed Doon University to dispose of a petitioner's pending representation within three months of receiving a copy of its order, while hearing a plea challenging the appointment of an assistant professor. A division bench comprising Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Pankaj Purohit also directed the petitioner to serve a copy of the order on the university administration.
The court also said that the opposing party, assistant professor Khushboo Singh, must be given an opportunity to present her case before any decision is taken.
According to the petition, Jagatpal Singh had applied for the post of assistant professor in the physics department following a recruitment notification issued by the university in Feb 2023 but was not selected. He alleged that the candidate who was appointed had discrepancies in her academic credentials.
The petitioner sought the quashing of the appointment, contending that it was made in violation of established rules. After hearing the matter, the court disposed of the petition with directions to the university to consider and decide the pending representation within the stipulated time frame, after hearing all parties concerned.
