DEHRADUN: Two juvenile delinquents have escaped from a government-run juvenile detention and rehabilitation centre in Nehru Colony on Tuesday.
According to superintendent of police (City) Ajay Singh, “The inmates managed to escape from the juvenile detention centre after breaking the lock of the main gate.”
The juvenile offenders, both aged 16, were lodged in the detention centre on December 12, 2016, after getting caught with 12kg of charas. They have been booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“They were hired by drug peddlers to supply the charas but were nabbed by police,” said the SP (City). Meanwhile, three police teams have been formed to nab the two.
Both offenders hail from Bihar and the teams would be sent to locations in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Bihar if required, said Singh.
