Two die, six injured by electrocution in US Nagar

Rudrapur: Two men were killed and six others seriously singed while trying to fix a flag on a bamboo pole for “Holika Dahan” ceremony. The bamboo was wet and came in contact with a high-tension wire above, said police.
The incident took place around 10 pm in Amba Vihar colony, located at Chaiti turn on Bazpur road in Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar district.
The deceased have been identified as Abhishek Sinha, 26, a practising lawyer, and Lokesh Chandra Pargain, 21. According to police, the men were preparing for Holi prayers the next day and were setting up a flag near the point for “holika dahan”.
While Abhishek died on the spot, Lokesh and six others were taken to a hospital. Lokesh died on the way after he was referred to a higher center in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The others received treatment at private hospitals in Kashipur.
