The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a tourist vehicle obstructed traffic at Gandhi Chowk. Vikram Sajwan, resident of a village in Jaunpur, honked and asked tourists to remove their car. It led to a scuffle between tourists and locals, in which Sajwan and another person were injured.

Hundreds of irate residents blocked NH 707A at Gandhi Chowk and shouted anti-police slogans. They also broke a window pane of the police chowki at Gandhi Chowk.

"The police defended tourists who were at fault and assaulted us. We demand the removal of sub-inspector Shoaib Ali as he shielded tourists after they beat us up," Sajwan alleged. Meanwhile, the tourists, who included two men, two women and children, alleged locals assaulted them and their children suffered injuries.
