NAINITAL: PM Modi’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme which was meant to give tips to reduce the stress of students before exams ended up leaving quite a few schools in Almora district of Kumaon flustered as the school management had to reschedule the annual and pre-board exams hurriedly so that students could listen to the PM.
Sources in the district education office said that the exams were scheduled in the morning on Friday but after getting a directive on Thursday from the education directorate regarding mandatory listening of the programme in the morning, they had to “hurriedly reschedule the exams for afternoon and the next day.” “Most of the exams were conducted in the afternoon after the PM’s programme got over,” said Dhirendra Pathak, administrative officer in the education department based in Almora.
The schools many of which are situated in remote areas had to also arrange for TV and radio sets so that students could catch the broadcast live. “There was some difficulty but we got TV sets arranged for schools which were in accessible areas. For schools in remote locations, radio sets were organised so that they could hear the PM’s broadcast,” Pathak said.
Meanwhile, students who took part in the programme said they had enjoyed listing to the PM’s tips. "The Prime Minister spoke on a lot of things that we should do so that we do not come under unnecessary pressure. I liked his tip of doing yoga and listening to music while preparing for examinations," said
Priyanka Joshi, a student of class 12 in the Government Girls Inter College.
