on Haridwar-Najibabad highway on Friday morning. According to forest department, the three-year-old leopard was hit by an unknown vehicle and died due to internal injuries. Post-mortem has been conducted and officials are trying to identify the vehicle.

The divisional forest officer of Haridwar, Akash Verma, said, “The post-morterm report indicates that the leopard was hit by a vehicle and received fatal injuries on head and died due to internal bleeding. Further investigation is underway.”

Shyampur range is close to Rajaji Tiger Reserve. Wild animals especially leopard and elephants often cross the highway road for food. However caution sign boards are placed on Highway to maintain speed but commuters do not follow the rules and accidents often reported on this route.
