DEHRADUN: The dates for applying for a six-month bridge course from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to continue being eligible to teach in primary government schools after March 2019 even alongside special basic teachers certificate (BTC), which has not been recognized yet by NCTE, has been further extended to December 31. However, association of primary government school teachers maintained that they will not opt for the course.

“They are going on extending the date of registering for this course and will do so again. It does not matter as we have no intentions of applying for the bridge course. We might start a protest after the winter break to pressurize the state government to get the special BTC recognized,” said Digvijay Singh Chauhan, general secretary of primary teachers organization.
