STF nabs three peddlers in Champawat, seizes over 8kg of charas

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested three drug peddlers from Lohaghat in Champawat district on Monday and recovered over 8kg of charas from them.
Acting on a tip-off, the Kumaon unit of STF arrested Jitendra Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Jitendra Pal, all residents of Lohaghat, from Mayawati tri-junction.
Renuka Devi, senior superintendent of police (SSP) STF, said, “We have seized over 8 kg of charas worth Rs 5 lakh in the international market.We have also seized the car used for smuggling the contraband.”
During interrogation, the accused have admitted that they were planning to deliver the contraband to a customer from Delhi, said Renuka.
Since April 2016, the STF has seized over 91kg of charas and 4.8kg of ganja and arrested 21 peddlers from different parts of the state.
