Rudrapur: With rainfall intensifying in the region over the last few days, doctors said that the number of
viral fever cases here has seen a sharp rise — from 50-60 cases a day to over 200 daily. In view of the rising number of cases, doctors have advised people to avoid crowded places to prevent the spread of the disease.
Dr Rakesh Sinha, paediatrician at JL Nehru District Hospital, said, “Earlier, we were treating 50-60 cases every day. Over the last week, the disease has started spreading very fast. The infection can be prevented by avoiding crowded places. One should also maintain distance from people who are already affected.”
He added that coughing and sneezing are the most common symptoms with children being most susceptible to the disease. Another physician at the same hospital Dr MK Tiwari said, “The outpatient department has seen a significant rise in the number of patients with viral infections. At present, we treat over 200 patients daily.”
