Sharad Negi new chairman of state environment assessment authority

: Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change has appointed Sharad Singh Negi as chairman of State Environment Assessment Authority for three years. The term of the earlier authority had lapsed in 2015.

The authority is empowered to grant ‘environmental clearances’ in the state for category ‘B’ projects. Negi has served as former director general forest and special secretary to the government of India. He was also a former director of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun and director environment of Himachal Pradesh government. Presently, he is also vice chairman of Uttarakhand rural development and migration commission.
