ROORKEE: An
RTI activist
was arrested on Thursday for allegedly asking Rs 20,000 bribe from a school teacher in Manglaur, 8 km from here.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Naushad. He had filed
RTI
applications against Naresh Chopra, a teacher from government junior high school at Manglaur. He had been trying to blackmail Chopra for months.
SSP (
Haridwar
) Krishan Kumar VK along with Chopra laid a trap to arrest the accused. The accused was called by the victim to take Rs 10,000 at his school. The accused was then caught red handed.
A case under Section 389 (putting person in fear in order to commit extortion) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused.
