MUSSOORIE: Residents of some localities in Mussoorie claimed that they were not receiving proper water supply for several days. Kinraig, Barakainchi, Laxmanpuri and parts of Landour are worst affected. "We're facing this shortage since June, but over the past week it has worsened. We are getting only a few minutes of supply in a day which is insufficient," said Paramjeet Singh Kohli, a resident of Laxmanpuri area.

Residents said that water shortage is most pronounced in Laxmanpuri, Ganesh hotel locality and in some parts of Landour. "We are forced to spend the day with just one or two buckets of water," said Ashish Bhatt, another resident of Laxmanpuri. Several families in the Kincraig and Barakainchi areas, who are dependent upon public taps, complained about the water supply as well.

"The supply has been poor for over a month, resulting in long queues at the taps. To fulfil our basic needs we are forced to walk 2 km to get water from a nearby spring," said Krishna Devi, a resident of Kincraig area.

RC Ramola, executive engineer of Jal Sansthan, told TOI that water supply had been affected in Landour and Laxmanpuri areas due to power supply issues at Kolti pumping station and had improved on Thursday. Ramola said they will look into the scarcity issue at Kincraig as well.
