They said that the poles, which have been cropping up in several parts of the town, are an eyesore and

creating traffic nuisance

, especially on narrow roads. They demanded that the poles be removed immediately.

In a letter addressed to

SDM

Minakshi Patwal, Mussoorie traders and welfare association had written: “Despite the municipal council giving permission for underground cabling, permanent iron poles are being put up by contractors of the company, flouting all rules.”

It needs to be noted that in August end, after written complaints from Mussoorie traders and welfare association, Mussoorie hotels association and All India Trade Union Congress, the work had been stopped.

The poles are being erected as part of a Rs 4.5 crore project to connect

Uttarakhand

through optic fiber network.
