police, saved the life of a 17-year-old girl, who was being forcefully married off by her parents in

village under the jurisdiction of
Kankhal
police station on Tuesday.

The groom and his relatives had reached the village and marriage was about to start but on receiving the complaint, police intercepted the marriage procession.
Police said that according to the educational certificates of the girl, she is 17 years and seven months old. No action has been taken against the girl’s parents yet and the marriage has been postponed with mutual consent, police said.

, said, “An unknown person called the police that a minor girl was being married of by her parents in Missarpur village. We rushed to the village and asked the girl’s parents to show her age proof. According to her educational documents, the girl is a minor. We stopped the marriage immediately.”
