DEHRADUN: In a bid to attract tourists to less-explored regions in the state, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board launched a special 4-night/5-day package trip to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat on Monday.

Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said, "The initiative is aimed at promoting tourism in remote areas of Kumaon region. After the PM's visit to Parvati Kund on the Adi Kailash route last Oct, we expect a good turnout of tourists and pilgrims this year."

The five-day itinerary starts with an overnight stay in Pithoragarh. Travellers will then venture through Gunji, Nabhi, Nepalchu and Jolingkong through six chopper rides. They will be transferred to Parvati Temple by all-terrain vehicles for Adi Kailash Darshan. The tour will accommodate small groups, with each batch consisting of 12-15 individuals.

The package tour was preceded by the aerial darshan service launched on April 1. On its first day, the service saw 16 tourists from states like Odisha, Delhi and Gujarat taking the MI17 helicopter ride to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat.
