A devotee discovered the theft around 5.30 am on Thursday when he found the lock on the gate broken. Inside, the lights were on, and several silver items were missing.

"Valuable items made of silver, such as the Bhamandal, throne, canopy, kalash, and big plates, were missing from the temple," said Siddharth Jain, secretary of the temple management.

Members of the Jain community alleged that there was a delay in the police's response. "Police arrived at the temple almost two hours after being notified of the incident," said one Shashank Jain.

Police, however, denied any delay on their part. "We reached the site as soon as we received the information. However, we didn't allow anyone to enter the temple premises until the forensic team arrived, which might have caused frustration among the community. Multiple teams have been deployed to ensure a swift resolution of the case," said SP (Rural) Shekhar Chandra Suyal.
