DEHRADUN

: A 52-year-old presiding officer returning from poll duty died on Tuesday and three other polling officers sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge on Pauri-Devprayag road in

Garhwal district.

All four were deployed on poll duty at the Choapra polling station in Srinagar assembly constituency and were returning to Dehradun when their car fell into a gorge near Kholachori. The deceased was identified as Ranveer Singh Negi, a resident of Bhaniyawala in Dehradun. Meanwhile,

sustained critical injuries.

After receiving information, police and rescue teams reached the spot and took the injured persons to a nearby hospital. All three were referred to the Pauri district hospital for treatment.
