HARIDWAR: The 50th birthday of Acharya Balkrishna, general secretary of Patanjali Yogpeeth and vice chancellor of Patanjali University, was on Thursday celebrated as 'Swarna Jayanti Mahotsav' and 'Jadi Buti Diwas'.

Also, on the occasion of the 75th year of Independence, 75 texts composed by Acharya Balkrishna were dedicated to the public. Along with this, 51 new medicines were released. Swami Ramdev said that in the field of Indian knowledge, in the Ayurveda tradition, Acharya Balkrishna has “not only written history, but has also created history.”
With more than five lakh verses, he has done a wonderful job by composing the world herbal encyclopedia, 'Soumitreya Nighantu, Saumitreya Nidanam', Ramdev said.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that all naturopathy practitioners in the state will be registered by the government and a world-class naturopathy hospital will also be sought to be built in Uttarakhand with the assistance of Patanjali. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) also praised the efforts made by Patanjali in conserving Indian flora and medicinal herbs.
