MDDA ropes in Bollywood scriptwriter to pen movie on state’s heritage

MDDA vice-chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastava who held a meeting with Shukla at his office on Saturday told TOI that the movie will showcase the traditions, festivals and heritage of the state. “The focus of the movie will be the culture of both the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. The movie will show various customs, festivals and the heritage of the state,” he said, adding that residents will be able to watch the show free of cost.
He added that the redevelopment of Rajpur park will be completed by March next year. ‘We have estimated the project cost to be around Rs 4.5 crore. This includes the proposed sound and light show as well where the visitors will be given headphones to listen to the audio which will be in both English and Hindi,” he said.
Apart from redeveloping the Rajpur Park, the MDDA has also been planning to build the city’s largest park at Sahastradhara Road which will be spread across 12.45 hectares and will have a food court, cycling and jogging tracks, cultural lawns, a valley of flowers, forest walks etc.

Development Authority (MDDA) has roped in Bollywood scriptwriter Dilip Shukla to pen a movie on the heritage of the state which will be part of the proposed light and sound show at the Rajpur Park. Officials said that they had floated the technical bids of the show after which they chose Shukla, who has written Bollywood blockbusters such as Sunny Deol- starrer Damini and the Dabbang series featuring Salman Khan.He added that the redevelopment of Rajpur park will be completed by March next year. ‘We have estimated the project cost to be around Rs 4.5 crore.
