Maternal uncle booked for kidnapping, raping minor girl in Uttarakhand

ALMORA: Police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and raping his 13-year-old niece for 4-5 days. Cops rescued the survivor, a resident of Almora, from the accused’s house.


According to police, a team was formed to find the minor girl after her family members filed a missing person complaint. They said the girl had not returned home from school.

During the investigation, police traced her to her maternal uncle’s house with the help of call records. The girl, a student at a local government school, used to reside with her parents and grandparents, said police. After a medical examination, the girl was sent back with her family.

Based on evidence, an FIR was registered on Tuesday against the accused person under IPC section 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and section 376 (3) (punishment for committing repeated rape of same woman), and sections 5 (penetrative sexual assault on a child) and 6 (sexual assault) of the Pocso Act.
