Lok Sabha Speaker, Baba Ramdev attend Swami Chidanand’s 70th b’day event in Rishikesh

Haridwar: A seven-day celebration was kicked off on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of Swami Chidanand Saraswati, head of Rishikesh-based Parmarth Niketan Ashram on Friday. On the first day of the event, held in association with the Times of India, Swami Chidanand’s biography "Gangaputra” was launched. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and other prominent seers attended the event on Day 1.

Speaking on the occasion, Baba Ramdev said, “Swami Chidanand's life embodies the true essence of spirituality. I have known him for 30 years and his body weight hasn't increased by an ounce in this period. He has lived a truly yogic life.”

Echoing a similar opinion, Om Birla said, “Swami Ji dedicated his life to protecting and preserving Indian culture. His selfless service is inspiring.”

Addressing his followers, Swami Chidanand said, “To me, life has always been about serving and giving. Every minute and every moment of our lives should be spent in selfless service to humanity with no discrimination, no expectation, no hesitation and no vacation.”

Meanwhile, noted playback singer Kailash Kher performed on the occasion and dedicated a special bhajan (devotional song) to Swami Chidanand.
