Dehradun: A 38-year-old Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) constable from Rajasthan's Dausa allegedly died by suicide at the force's centre in Mussoorie on Tuesday morning, police said.
Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh said police reached the spot and launched an investigation. "Preliminary inquiry suggests that Chetram Meena hanged himself using a nylon rope tied to the window of his room," he said.

Police brought the body down from the noose in the presence of videography and photography teams and sent it for post-mortem examination. The body will be handed over to the family for last rites after the examination. Family members reached Mussoorie later in the day, police said.
The SSP said Meena had been transferred from Pithoragarh to Mussoorie about two months ago. No suicide note was recovered. However, ITBP officials informed the police that he had made a suicide attempt during his posting in Pithoragarh in July last year.
