DEHRADUN: Artists from across the world and various Indian states performed at Amritam Gamya, an international dance and music festival that was organised at a private school in Dehradun on Tuesday evening under the aegis of the Union ministry of culture.

Organisers said that the festival is an extension of celebrations of Amrit Mahotsav of 75 years of independence. "The idea behind the festival is to recreate awareness of various forms of dance and music. It also traces parallels between Indian and other international art forms," said a festival spokesperson.

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the event. "There are so many cultural events being organised to celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav. We are grateful to all the artists performing here and are proudly taking our Indian culture across the border," said the CM. Over 100 artists from Spain and Egypt also performed along with those from multiple Indian states. Garhwal artist Narendra Singh Negi also put on performances and received an overwhelming response.
