“It is crucial to promote the disappearing Himalayan medicines and herbs. To this end, locals must be encouraged to cultivate ayurvedic herbs. It can also be an effective way to deal with migration from hills,” Kotecha said.

The official added that the AYUSH ministry will soon hold talks with the state government to open a 50-bed ayurvedic hospital in Almora.
