NAINITAL: A total of 126 players took part in the three-day Governor’s Cup Golf tournament, which was inaugurated by governor Baby Rani Maurya at Raj Bhawan on Friday.
“Increasing interest of players in golf and the tournament is a good sign for Nainital and Uttarakhand. This will help establish Nainital in world of golf sport. I hope more and more people take up the sport,” the governor said.
On the first day, as many as 63 golfers from across the country participated in the tournament.
With the help of Indian Golf Union, another tournament will be organized for junior and sub-junior levels from May 27 to 31.
Addressing the the participants and audience, Baby Rani said, “Holding this annual event in Nainital would go a long way in establishing the lake city as a world class golf destination. It will also help boost tourism in Uttarakhand.”
