Roorkee: An eight-year-old girl was crushed to death by a tractor after a child allegedly turned the key of the parked vehicle while children were playing near it in Ghosipura village on Sunday morning. Police said the accident appeared to be accidental. Locals said a group of children was playing near the parked tractor when it suddenly moved forward and ran over
Ayesha. She died on the way to the hospital.
Her father, Shahrukh, said he had left the tractor with the key inserted as he was about to leave for the fields and had briefly gone inside the house for some work. “One of the children playing there turned the key, causing the tractor to start. It moved forward and ran over my daughter Ayesha,” Shahrukh said. He added, “We rushed her to Dehradun, but she died later the same day.”
The family later brought the body back home and performed the last rites. Bhagwan Singh Mahar, in-charge of Manglaur police station. said police had not received any formal complaint so far, but added that the incident had come to their notice and inquiry was underway.
