Dehradun: In a fresh complaint of ragging at Government Doon Medical College in Dehradun, an MBBS student has alleged that seniors had forced him to shave his beard and get a haircut. The anti-ragging committee has taken up the complaint for investigation, said principal Dr Geeta Jain.
“The committee is looking into all the aspects of complaint as the complainant is anonymous and has not revealed the identity of the seniors,” said Jain.
Meanwhile, another senior doctor said, “The college is likely to hold a press conference to address the media regarding the complaint. It is imperative to know the victim as well as the perpetrators, to initiate any kind of action.”
The complaint comes barely three months after a ragging episode in which a first-year student from the 2025 batch had complained that two seniors from the 2023 and 2024 batches beat him with belts, forced him to trim his hair and sleep outside the hostel premises. Twenty-four students were fined for indiscipline following the incident, and nine were eventually suspended and expelled from the hostel on the basis of the anti-ragging committee’s inquiry report—two of them for two months with fines of Rs 50,000 each and seven others for one month.
