Ex-Armyman, 3 sons held for attacking 5 cops, including SHO

Dehradun: A 60-year-old man and his three sons have been arrested on charges of attempted murder and criminal intimidation after allegedly attacking a station house officer (SHO) and four other police officers at Clement Town police station in Dehradun on Saturday night.The accused have been identified as Dhan Singh Fartyal, a retired serviceman, and his sons Vinay Fartyal (29), Arun Fartyal (26), and Varun Fartyal (26). According to SHO Rana, the incident occurred when two former tenants, Chakshu Agrawal and Atul Agrawal, visited the police station to report an issue regarding the repair of damaged windows and doors in their rented accommodation. "After hearing their plea, the police called their landlord, Dhan Singh, to the station. He arrived with his three sons. Both parties agreed to a resolution and left the police station," said Rana."However, as soon as they stepped outside the police station premises, the four accused began abusing and physically assaulting the two tenants. Four police officers and I rushed to intervene. In the process, we were also subjected to verbal abuse. The four individuals were arrested and charged under sections 333, 307, and 506 of the IPC, along with other relevant sections. They will also face action under the Gunda Act," Rana added. TNN
