Ex-Army man held with skin of three leopards in Champawat

Pithoragarh: In a joint operation by a team of Special Operations Group (SOG) and forest department, an ex-Army personnel was held on Thursday and skin of three leopards recovered from his possession.

The accused, identified as Rajendra Nath, was trying to smuggle the skin in Lohaghat area of the district when he was nabbed near Barakot. Nath, according to the police, presently works as a security guard in a co-operative bank at Barakot.

“The accused was found to have shot down three leopards in the forest of Kali Kumaon range of Champawat district with his licenced gun,” said Manish Khatri, SHO Lohaghat. The official added that Nath went to Nepal several times and police is probing his connection with a Nepali smuggler.

in dickey, told Lokeswar singh, SP Champawat. The man is identified as Rajendra, resident of Patyuda of Barakot block of Champawat . The length of skin are 6 feet 10 inch and age is 7 years, second skin is 7.5 feet and are 9 years and third skin is 7 feet and age 9 years, told SP.
