ROORKEE: A 20-year-old student of a local engineering college was run over by a train while she was filming a reel on her mobile phone near a railway track close to Shivpuram area of Roorkee, police officials said. The incident happened on Wednesday evening.
The girl, identified by her first name, Vaishali, was accompanied by her friend who later informed family members about the tragedy.
Vaishali, who belonged to Haripur Tongia village, was staying at her maternal uncle's place at Shivpuram locality for her studies.
"The girl and her friend were involved in filming a reel near the railway track when the Barmer Express ran over her. She died on the spot. We handed over her body to her family after conducting a post-mortem on Thursday," said Govind Kumar, in-charge of Gangnahar police station.
