Drones to help Uttarakhand cops pick new parking spots

To ease traffic woes in the state, especially in plain districts and the ones in the Char Dham districts, the Uttarakhand police plans to use drones to identify spots to develop parking places and police outposts.

DEHRADUN: To ease traffic woes in the state, especially in plain districts and the ones in the Char Dham districts, the Uttarakhand police plans to use drones to identify spots to develop parking places and police outposts.
Amit Sinha, ADG, police telecommunications, said, "Almost all 13 districts of the state have hilly terrain, so we decided to use drones."
"Police will survey areas and look for spots that can be turned into parking facilities.

Once the spots are identified, police will speak to other departments and take further action. The initiative will focus on three districts, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi, which host the Char Dham shrines," he added.
