ALMORA: The services of an ENT surgeon have been terminated after he allegedly asked an Ayushman cardholder admitted to the Almora district hospital to buy medicines from somewhere outside. Dr Ankur Gupta, was posted at the hospital on a contractual basis through a firm, T&M Company, about a year ago.
Recently, a patient's attendant accused the surgeon of forcing him to buy medicines worth Rs 12,000 from outside, even though he had an Ayushman card.
When the attendant protested, he was also subjected to indecency. He complained to the hospital management and health secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar, who visited the hospital. Kumar ordered an investigation which found the allegations to be true. following which the surgeon's services were terminated with effect from October 31, Dr H C Gadkoti, PMS, district hospital, Almora, said.
