Dehradun:
Congress party members trekked from Sonprayag to Kedarnath, where they offered prayers and concluded the Kedarnath Pratistha Raksha Yatra with a ceremony at the Bhairav Temple on Friday.
Criticising
BJP govt, Congress state chief Karan Mahara, said, "The issues of missing gold at the temple, QR code or the recent plan to construct a Kedarnath replica at Delhi clearly show that the BJP govt is least bothered about our traditions and religious values."
He also referred to the now-repealed Devasthanam Board, saying it was withdrawn only after widespread protests by Congress and temple priests. "We fail to understand that why is the govt not serious about the issue. Decisions are being made without the consultation of priests and locals," he added.
Among the key Congress members who undertook the trek were MLA Vikram Singh Negi and former MLAs Ranjeet Rawat and Lalit Pharswan.
The yatra, initially launched on July 24 to oppose the proposal to build a replica of the Kedarnath temple in Delhi, was halted on Aug 2 due to landslides affecting the trek route on July 31.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with
