Congress releases list of star campaigners

DEHRADUN: Congress on Thursday released a list of star campaigners for its candidate Anju Lunthi in the Pithoragarh bypoll on November 25. The list includes senior leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Manmohan Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia. Spokesperson Garima Dasauni told TOI that Congress president Pritam Singh has already sent requests to Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Manmohan Singh to campaign for Lunthi in Pithoragarh. “We’re expecting all senior leaders, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, to join the campaign. Congress has also named Ahmed Patel, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sachin Pilot in its list of star campaigners, which includes 40 leaders from across India.

Anju Lunthi will be contesting against BJP’s Chandra Pant, the wife of former state finance minister Prakash Pant, who represented Pithoragarh till his death in June necessitated the bypoll. UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and the party’s national president JP Nadda could hold rallies for Chandra Pant, state BJP leaders said on Thursday.
