DEHRADUN: Chief minister Harish Rawat has announced over a dozen projects worth Rs 126 crore at

A slew of projects were announced by the CM in the town. Those include a Rs 62 crore facelift for the town and drinking water projects worth Rs 62 crore for Ramnagar and Maldhan. Construction of a road that passes through Ramnagar-Kaladunghi-Haldwani-Kathgodam-Chorgalia-Sitarganj was also announced. The project would be worth Rs 10.93 crore. Six more motorable roads to connect over 50 villages will be constructed while building of Ramnagar-Shakhanpur-Jeevanthpur motorable road will cost Rs 7 crore. Water bodies like ponds and canals will be built to cater to

irrigation needs

of the region.

Rawat also announced that Ramnagar-Kunda-Haridwar road will be upgraded to National Highway. He said that parking facility will be built at the premises of Ramnagar old tehsil at the cost of Rs 11 lakh. He also said that Girjiya festival will be upgraded to a national festival. The festival is held at Girjiya temple in Ramnagar to offer prayers to Goddess Girjiya, believed to be an incarnation of Parvati by the locals.

On the occasion, Rawat also lashed out at the Modi government for demonetisation of higher currency.
